Once you are approved, you can be eligible to receive up to a $1,350 tax credit.    You must at least spent $1,001 in renovations to get a portion of the credit and $10,000 to get the maximum tax credit of $1,350.

Here are few examples of eligible renovations that would qualify under the HRTC:

  • Renovations of the kitchen, bathroom, and basement;
  • New carpeting and hardwood flooring;
  • Building an addition to your home, a deck, a fence;
  • Painting the interior and/or exterior of your home;
  • Resurfacing the driveway;
  • Laying new sod.
